New Orleans (August 5th, 2019)- Current AmeriCorps and GulfCorps member Jasmine Poole earned an amazing opportunity this summer to travel to Washington D.C. and serve as an intern for Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy. Ms. Poole was awarded this opportunity after meeting Senator Cassdiy following her speech at the Friends of National Service reception in D.C. earlier this year, where she was awarded for being selected as one of The Corps Network’s 2019 Corpsmember of the Year in 2019.

While spending her summer in D.C., Ms. Poole assisted with administrative duties for Senators Cassidy’s office. “(My) favorite thing I've done by far is to have the Senator call and greet me by my nickname, have lunch with him, as well as having a walk and talk with him.” stated Ms. Poole. However, adjusting to the new city and her new workspace were not always easy, “The most challenging aspect is to memorize where different offices and places are in the (Hart Senate) building because it's so huge. So many different hallways and tunnels”. Ms. Poole is very grateful that she was selected for this experience, stating it will “open up doors and options that I never thought I would have” and has allowed her to “network with people from multiple backgrounds”. She credits Limitless Vistas for helping prepare her for this opportunity.

We at Limitless Vistas look forward to having Jasmine return to our AmeriCorps and GulfCorps crew this fall, and are very excited for her future growth and development. Visit our blog for more information about the amazing accomplishment of Ms. Poole and other LVI Alumni.
