Patrick A. Barnes, President of Barnes, Ferland and Associates, Inc. (BFA) and founder of LVI has over 25 years of experience and has trained youth and young adults on multiple environmental justice and Brownfields projects. Matilda Tenessee, Executive Director, has a Masters in Business Administration and received several certificates for outstanding services. She has over 20 years of experience with non-profit organizations and over 5 years of experience in working with disadvantaged youth through BFA, LVI and New Orleans Job Corps Center. Jim Gordon, Program Manager, has a twenty-five year career in Corporate America with an emphasis in project management. His mission with LVI is to build partnerships in the public, private, and educational sectors. Jose Cruz, Technical Field Supervisor, is a hydrologist with vast experience as a Project Manager, and has trained numerous youth in various techniques of environmental data collection to include surface water, groundwater, and soil sampling. Mr. Cruz has taken some program members to work in Orlando, Fl., to get advanced training working with specialized equipment and test kits. Members are taught chain of custody protocols, and shown how data is compiled. Mr. Cruz is also a certified OSHA 10 hr. and 30hr. trainer, and certifies members in 10 hr. Construction Safety. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member with Louisiana Technical College providing training to our members in Introduction to Environmental Science. Mr. Cruz has several certifications to include but not be limited to: FDEP SOP Sampling for Groundwater, Surface Water, and Wastewater, NR Surface - Water Records, Work Horse ADCP Basic Training, Logger Net Training, and Satellite Data Collection Platform. Roger Simon, is a highly qualified Professional Geologist with over twenty-five years of experience in coordinating environmental management activities and working on a variety of environmental projects involving environmental risk and impact assessment, wastewater collection, treatment and disposal, and natural resources evaluation. Mr. Simon is currently responsible for coordinating our Brownfields Job Training Programs. He's also been responsible for providing both certification and non-certification training courses including the 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER course and a vast range of environmental topics, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, surface and groundwater sampling procedures and innovative contaminant remedial techniques. Rebecca Jackson, Operational Field Supervisor, has three years of experience in recruitment and placement, with a 2008 placement rate of 80%. She supervises the LVI Crew Leaders and executes day-to-day field assignments.
